How much audio should I use? (asking for recommendation)

If I go to the audio tab in the settings menu, the audio bar in the "System sounds" is set to full by default. What I wondering is, if the audio bar is set to 50% and my desktop audio is 80%, does that mean it will record 40% of the desktop audio?
I'm just asking for some recommendation here. For example, should I just leave it at full like the default, or should I reduce it a little bit?
