I press F12 but nothing happens, the screen just gets brighter

    I wanted to record a steam game BUT IT LOOKS LIKE MY CTRL AND F12 BUTTONS ARE BROKEN I keep on pressing control and F12 but it wont work no matter what because F12 is for the brightness

    Try a different hotkey then. Go to the Settings tab, Hotkeys tab, put the cursor in the field for Start/Stop Recording and press whichever hotkey you want. It can be tricky to get something that doesn't collide with any of the game keys.
