How can I reduce lag in recordings?
-
Try these things to improve performance:
-
Select the right encoder:
Make sure you have an hardware encoder selected, if one is available. Go to the Video tab in the Settings to check.
If you only have the software encoders, select the lower CPU usage option. -
Don't set a higher frame frames rate than you need:
Not every game needs to be recorded at 144 fps - if the game is locked to 60 fps, recording at a higher fps will waste processing power.
Similarly, not every PC is capable of running games at 144 fps. If your PC will normally only manage to run a game at 30 fps, then don't select something higher than that. In fact, a lower setting may improve performance by putting less strain on your PC.
Go to the Video tab in the Settings to set the FPS. -
Reduce the resolution and/or quality of the recording.
Go to Settings -> Video and select something other than 'Original' for the Resolution to reduce the dimensions of the saved recording or reduce the Quality setting - these will reduce the amount of data that FBX has to encode. -
Make sure that you don't have any unnecessary applications running in the background which may be competing with FBX for system resources (CPU / memory).
