Why can't I film or why isn't it showing up?

I don't know why but whenever I press Ctrl+f12 I don't think it does anything really, I would like to now ASAP because I have to record a series YouTube.

Do you see the overlay appear? If not, then pressing the record hotkey won't do anything because the game has not been detected.
If you don't see the overlay, what game are you trying to record?
