Scale AND keep aspect ratio
-
When I attempt to record something along the lines of Warcraft II (BNet/Windows version), and use "original" resolution under settings, I record a 640x480 video (4:3 aspect ratio). When I select "1080p" under resolution, the image is stretched to 1920x1080 (16:9 aspect ration), but the image looks wrong/too wide as the original aspect is 4:3.
Is there any way to upscale and maintain aspect ratio, adding black bars to the side (which is how it appears when scaled up bu the GPU itself)?

When you select 1080p, you should record an unstretched 4:3 image with black padding around it to fill out the remaining space to give the overall aspect ratio of 16:9 required for the 1920 x 1080 resolution.
I expect the reason that this isn't working properly for you is that FBX is designed to record games that use DirectX 9 or newer but, from what I've seen, Warcraft II uses either DirectX 2 or GDI, which are much, much older. Some games that use these technologies will actually record correctly and some will record more or less ok but with some issues. It sounds like Warcraft II falls into the second of these groups.
We're not planning to expand support to older versions of DirectX but we are working on an alternative record mode that will simply record whatever is on your screen. This 'fullscreen' record mode would not be limited by what technology is used to create the game but potentially the recording performance would not be quite as good as the primary game recording mode that we currently have.

Ahh, OK- understood. Thanks for the reply.
