  Try switching to a different Encoder selection. The specific encoders available to you will depend on what hardware you have but the one you currently have selected might not be the most suitable for maintaining the game's performance.

  If that doesn't improve things, then as Anexide suggested, try reducing the Quality setting.

  Hi. Take a look on the 'Home' tab at the top of FBX. When you switch to a game that FBX can record, you'll see the overlay appear. Then you press the hotkey (Ctrl+F12 by default). If you're having trouble recording a game, let us know what's going on.

  FXB always records the entire game region. You can't set it to record just a part of the game.

  Yes, FBX is only for games - the overlay will only appear when it detects certain processes that are used by games. More specifically, it will support recording games that use DirectX 9 - 12 or OpenGL.

  For general screen recording, you could check out our FlashBack recorder instead.

  I'm afraid not - we don't have cloud sharing yet. You'd need to put it on Google drive, Dropbox, one of those services.

  Sure - if you've got all-Intel hardware, it will use Intel's Quicksync hardware acceleration technology to speed up recording. If your hardware is older, FBX will still record, using a software encoder.

  FBX has been made to record games, so it mainly records DirectX, Direct3D, OpenGL type display technology. I don't think Skype uses these.

  Take a look at our other free screen recorder: FlashBack Express. That will record Skype just fine.

  The overlay cannot be hidden completely but if you go to Overlay tab in the Settings, you can hide various elements that are displayed in the overlay to reduce the size of it. When none of the elements are enabled, the overlay will just be a small square that indicates if you are actively recording or not.

  When FBX starts, it checks for a new release, and if it finds one, starts to download it.

  If you haven't got it already, you should be able to get it by starting FBX, leaving it for 5 mins (its a 50mb download) and restarting it. If this doesn't work - just get the latest release from https://fbx.gg/download/

  The 'overlay' or 'HUD' is what FBX displays in the game to show that it can record it.

  It looks like a green 'X'. You can see an example on the Home tab of FBX, or in Settings -> Overlay.

  By default it reminds you of the hotkey you need to start and stop recording. You can customize what appears in the overlay and where it is on the screen, in the Overlay tab of the settings.

  Oh okay. Thank You! Hopefully it does come in, because It's useful, specially for people like me, who have an awful mic that picks up everything and want's to edit only the voice recording. Thank you!

  Sure, there's a hotkey that allows you to do that. The default is F8 but you can set it to whatever you want on the Hotkeys section of the Settings.
